Acting can be an unpredictable industry. In order to build a sustainable and viable career in acting, you need to be flexible, resilient and open to using your transferable skills while you are waiting for the next acting job.
At Collarts, we understand that. Our lecturers are all industry leaders who have built sustainable careers in the unpredictable world of acting for stage and screen. We’ll help you build resilience, lateral thinking and transferable skills so that you can both follow your acting passion in the industry and work within the creative arts in other areas that complement your acting ambitions.
Our training not only equips you to work as an actor on screen and on stage, but also introduces you to other areas of theatre, including theatre administration, artistic curatorship, casting agencies, technical production, arts marketing, theatrical producing, theatre training.
We work closely with each student to develop their plans for a successful career that is both sustainable and fulfilling.

On campus only.
Acting applicants will attend a group audition on campus, where they will perform a 2-3 minute monologue and complete an interview with the program leader. Applicants are also required to submit a 300-word statement outlining their interest in the course in advance of the audition.
Your audition will be part of a group session with your fellow applicants. This is to create a welcoming, supportive and interactive environment, where you can all help each other get the best outcomes from the session. You’ll start the session with a meet and greet with the Head of your Program and other applicants, do some easy warmup games and then perform your audition in front of everyone else. The Program Head will then work with you on your audition piece.
While the focus of this course is primarily theatre, there is one screen acting unit covered in the course and cross-collaboration with the Screen & Media students is encouraged. It’s also worth noting that many of the techniques learnt in the course are foundational/applicable to acting broadly, and many tv/film actors begin their careers on-stage.
