Enrolling at Collarts is your first step towards a creative career you’ll love. Once deemed eligible, the ATO will email you an eCaf form. Then, with your TFN or TFN application receipt, you're ready to start your FEE-HELP application. Just be sure to submit it before the census date.

Note: You only incur debt for the subjects you're enrolled in post-census date.

Completion of Year 12, or the State or International equivalent.
There are no ATAR minimum or subject requirements.

Completion of at least half of the first year of study (0.5 EFTSL) of a higher education diploma, associate degree, bachelor degree or higher, or International equivalent OR
VET Certificate qualification, or an International equivalent OR Work and Life Experience.

Scholarships

Scholarships are now available for international students and valid for all international study applications from March 2024. Kickstart your creative studies while we ease the financial load – eligible students can receive up to $11,000 AUD up to $3,600AUD for a Diploma.

Eligibility criteria:

Applicants must submit a 300-word statement along with their application explaining why they should be awarded the scholarship.
Approved applicants must comply with their visa conditions and obligations as Collarts students.
Applicants must meet Collarts entry requirements.
Scholarships are limited and awarded at the discretion of the Collarts International Team.
Valid for applications received in 2024.
Students must pay their fees on time to maintain eligibility.
Students must maintain a credit (65%) average or above in their Collarts studies to maintain eligibility.

Entry Requirements & Admission

Eligibility requirements

International students must meet the following criteria:

Applicants must be at least 18 years old at course commencement.
Successful completion of a senior secondary school certificate equivalent to Australian Year 12.
English proficiency (see below).
Interview.

English language requirements

Our English requirement is an overall IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent (with no single band score below 6.0) for all the courses, except Entertainment Journalism, where students are required to have an overall IELTS score of 6.5 (with no single band score below 6.0).

Applicants may also provide the following as evidence of their English proficiency:

Results of English subjects in a range of countries’ secondary school certificate, A Level or the International Baccalaureate. Please contact international@collarts.edu.au if you have any questions.
Successful completion of an English course at any of our pathway providers.

Admission requirements

To see if you are one of them, you'll undergo an admissions interview, during which you’ll discuss your experiences, background, and reasons why this field is calling your name.

A certified copy of transcripts and high school certificate (translated if necessary).
English test results or alternative evidence of English proficiency.
A certified copy of your passport.
A current visa (if applicable).

How to apply

Apply online via the Apply Now button on the page. Soon afterwards, our International Team will contact you.
Organise and submit the requested documentation for your application, ensuring all details are correct.
Book and attend an interview and/or audition, where you will meet our friendly International Team.
If your application is successful, Collarts will issue a Letter of Offer.
To accept your offer, you must return a signed Student Agreement to receive an invoice.
Once your payment is received, Collarts will issue an Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE) as evidence of your enrolment.
Once you have your eCoE you must purchase your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
Once you have all the documents, apply for your student visa.
Congratulations! You're ready to start studying at Collarts.

A skilled storyteller and investigator who gathers, verifies, and presents news and information to the public through various mediums such as print, broadcast and digital platforms. Conduct interviews, research pressing issues, and adhere to ethical standards while delivering accurate and engaging content to their audience.

Editor

Responsible for overseeing the content creation process, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and coherence in written or multimedia materials. Revise and refine drafts, provide feedback to writers, manage deadlines, and maintain the overall quality and integrity of the publication or project.

Podcaster

A content creator who produces audio stories and interviews to analyse news and entertainment. Conceptualise, research, script, record, and edit episodes, distributing them through online platforms for listeners to enjoy on-demand.

How much of the course is written journalism vs digital?

It differs for every subject, but there are lots of practical submissions supported by written reports and presentations.

Practical assessments include interviews, videos and podcasts.

Written assessments include editorials, feature stories, transcripts, essays, reports, research and reflections, and presentations.
